A private adventure for Peijun & friends — alpine lakes, mountain passes, nomadic steppes, and silk road history
Summer 2026 · Ref: GX-20261703
"The mountains are calling — and this time, you're answering with your best friends."
Dear Peijun, this journey was put together with you and the girls in mind. Kyrgyzstan is one of the last truly wild adventure destinations on earth — no crowds, no tourist traps, just breathtaking landscapes and genuine human warmth. This 10-day private itinerary is built for four friends who want something that goes far beyond a resort holiday — real adventure, real connection, real stories to tell.
Together you'll summit a 3,800m mountain pass, soak in healing hot springs, sleep under stars in traditional yurt camps, ride horses across open steppe, cook alongside local women in a village homestay, and share meals with nomadic families whose way of life has changed little in centuries. Every day earns its evening — and every evening is better with friends.
No tourist queues, no Instagram hordes. Kyrgyzstan is raw, real, and still largely undiscovered — you'll have entire mountain valleys to yourselves.
Your own SUV, your own English-speaking guide, your own pace. Every detail is arranged — all you have to do is show up and enjoy it together.
Summit a 3,800m pass by day, then soak in natural hot springs by evening. Sleep in yurts under the stars one night, a cosy guesthouse the next.
At USD 460 per person per day, your price covers accommodation, most meals, a private SUV, guide, horseback riding, and all entrance fees. This is a lot of trip for the money.

The adventure opens at 08:00 with your private SUV heading east from Bishkek. Your first stop is the Burana Tower — an 11th-century Silk Road minaret rising from the flat steppe near Tokmok, ancient and utterly alone. From there, lace up your boots for a 2-hour moderate hike through the dramatic cliffs of Kok Moynok Canyon (100m ascent). You'll pass through the ghostly Soviet lakeside town of Balykchy, then wind along the northern shores of Lake Issyk Kul before rewarding yourselves with a long, warm soak at the Ak-Suu Hot Springs — known locally for their healing mineral properties. Arrive in Karakol by evening.
Today is pure trail. A short drive drops you at the entrance to Karakol Gorge, where the day unfolds in two acts: first, a 8 km walk (2–3 hrs) through a pristine alpine river valley — wildflowers, glacial streams, and the sound of nothing but water and wind. Then a steeper 6 km push (2–3 hrs) through dense Tian Shan forest as the valley closes in and the air cools. Your reward: dinner and a night at a traditional yurt camp in the Kourgak Tor Gorge, with Kyrgyz home cooking and a sky full of stars at altitude.
This is the day that will live forever in the group chat. Ascend on rocky technical paths to Ala Kol Lake — a glacial tarn glowing electric turquoise at 3,500m (6 km, 2–3 hrs). Pause. Take it all in. Then push higher still to the Ala Kol Pass at 3,800m, where the jagged Terskey Ala-Too peaks soar above 5,000m in every direction. The long descent to Arashan (10 km, 4 hrs) winds through raw alpine wilderness — legs worked, lungs full of mountain air — and ends at the Arashan hot springs. You've earned this one.
A day of dramatic contrasts. Start with a roaring hike to the Barskoon Waterfalls, where water crashes 24 metres into the gorge below — genuinely spectacular after spring snowmelt. Then drive south to the surreal Skazka "Fairytale" Canyon, where millennia of wind and water have sculpted blood-red and ochre cliffs into shapes that look like they belong in a fantasy novel (2 km walk, 1.5 hrs). Detour through Kaji-Say, a hauntingly beautiful semi-abandoned Soviet town frozen in time, before settling into your Tong Village guesthouse on the southern shores of Issyk Kul.
Start with a morning dip in Lake Issyk Kul — the world's second largest alpine lake, warm enough in summer for a proper swim, ringed by snow-capped peaks reflected in deep blue water. Hike up the hill near Bokonbaevo (2 hrs) for a panoramic view across the entire lake. Then drop into the pale, wind-carved ravines of Ak Sai Canyon for a 2 km explore before a long, stunning 4-hour drive up into the interior mountains. Arrive at Song Kul Lake as the plateau opens up — vast, treeless, and extraordinary at 3,016m.
No schedule today — just the four of you and the endless steppe. Song Kul rewards those who slow down. The lake stretches horizon to horizon, horses graze on rolling pastures dotted with white yurts, and the silence is something you'll remember long after you're home. Learn to felt wool with the nomadic women, share tea and kurt (dried yogurt) with herding families, and watch the light change across the plateau as eagles circle overhead. This is the kind of day that makes lifelong friendships even deeper. Optional: horseback riding or bicycle hire available for an additional fee — highly recommended.
Descend from the plateau through rolling mountain passes into the Chuy Region lowlands. En route, a 2 km trail leads through pine forest to the Kazherty Waterfall — a quieter, wilder alternative to the tourist waterfalls, and worth every step. After lunch at a local café, arrive at the pastoral village of Shabdan or Tegermenti, nestled in the fertile Chuy Valley, where the next three nights are spent as genuine guests of a local farming family.
The kind of day that resets your idea of what travel can be. Today belongs entirely to the village — schools, farms, the weekly bazaar, and the rhythm of Kyrgyz rural life at its unhurried pace. If the timing aligns, watch (or join) traditional nomadic games and boxing matches in the fields. The women of the household will likely want to cook with you, teach you their embroidery, and hear your stories over endless cups of tea. Be curious. Be present. This is the part that stays with you longest.
Kyrgyz horses are compact, sure-footed, and spirited — the same breed that carried nomadic warriors across these plains for millennia. Today you ride them. A 4 to 5-hour horseback journey takes you across the open green valleys of the Chuy Region and along the banks of the Chong-Kemin River, where mountains frame the horizon in every direction. No riding experience required — your local guide and handlers will match each rider to the right horse and keep everyone comfortable. Four friends, four horses, wide open valley — one of those afternoons you'll talk about for years.
A last hurrah in the mountains before the city. Drive four scenic hours through the Tian Shan foothills to Ala Archa National Park, where a 7 km hike (2–3 hrs) winds through spruce forest and alpine meadows beneath glacier-draped peaks. Ten days of trails have prepared your legs for this — enjoy every step. Return to Bishkek for a city tour: taste Dungan cuisine, the fascinating Central Asian–Chinese fusion brought by Dungan migrants in the 19th century, and visit the striking National Mosque of Kyrgyzstan. Tonight you sleep in a hotel, with real beds and the warm memory of a trip that delivered everything it promised.
